I Feel a Draft For some time now I've been declaring that the draft will be brought back. The powers behind this country's inexorable move towards global government already have the plan in place, though they continue to deny it. Breaking news from the Pentagon tells us the Army has failed to meet its recruitment target for four straight months. Anyone can see we must have more enlistees if we are going to continue our present military policy. But extended tours, broken promises, poor pay and allowances, overextension of forces, and ambivalent support for the Iraq war have made military service less desirable than before. People just aren’t signing up or re-enlisting. So what must we do? Do we quit our job as the world’s policemen? Do we temper our ambition for empire and world hegemony? As with the British Empire, the sun never sets on our far-flung troop deployments. Could we possibly bring some of them home? No. We’ll force our citizens into unwilling military service, a kind of slavery. Isn’t it a kind of slavery to force a person to sacrifice his life in a cause that is not his own? Americans are dying under the pretense of defending their country, when the real purpose of our global policy may be something more venal, and less noble. Rumblings from the bowels of the Establishment suggest that the next draft will be "a targeted draft." That means that our government, Big Brother, will conscript people with certain skills and expertise (say doctors, technicians, scientists, computer experts), take them from home and career, and force them into the service of the New World Order. The Defense Department denies any need for the draft “at this time.” But “this time” is almost over. Believe me. If you pay close attention, you will feel a draft coming.
